Ancient Koliya Republic and Ramgram Stupa In Brief

Introduction Ramgram Stupa is 500 years older than A.D. i.e. 25 hundred years ago, it is a Stupa built by Koliya King. Lord Gautam Buddha, the pioneer of peace, was cremated after Mahaparinirvana, and after the cremation, the remaining ashes (relics) were brought and placed in the Astu Kalash. The capital of the Koliya Republic was also called Ramgram snd the king of Ramgram built the stupa thus called Ramgram Stupa till day. This Stupa is located in Ward No. 7, Ujaini of the present Ramgram Municipality. Ramgram (the capital city), also known as Devdaha, is now located in Panditpur village of Ramgram Municipality. Ramgram Stupa was found while searching on the basis of the description of the Chinese traveler saying that it is four miles east and south from the Koliya's capital Ramgram.           The importance of Stupa is also mentioned in the Buddhist text Tripitaka.
